Unidentified Cybercriminals hacked into the SWIFT System of NIC Asia Bank to steal money.  During Tihar vacation, when all the banks remain closed to celebrate festival the cyber theft took place at that time confirmed by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). 

Hacked Amount is yet to be confirmed which is illegally transferred through multiple small transactions via SWIFT.

“Account-holders need not to worry about their parked deposits which are safe.” said NRB Deputy Spokesperson Rajendra Pandit.

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) provides a network that enables financial institutions worldwide to send and receive information about financial transactions in a secure, standardized and reliable environment. It is also said that more than 90 percent fund transfer in the world take place by SWIFT.
